What’s all this talk about putting essential oils on the soles on people’s feet?

You might be thinking, “That sounds nice, I like being pampered.” Or maybe you’ve got ticklish feet…”You’re not coming near mine!” Either way, there’s SO much more to putting essential oils on the bottoms of your feet than you might think!

Applying essential oils on the soles of the feet is a simple and speedy way to get the nourishing benefits of essential oils into our bodies. What do you mean into my body? I mean essential oils are able to quickly and effortlessly pass through our skin and absorb into our body for amazing healing benefits. Our feet have the largest pores of the body. Put some essential oils on the bottoms of your feet, and their healing properties can rapidly enter into your system. Even cooler than that, your body knows to send them exactly where it’s needed most.

It’s a great and gentle option for using essential oils on kids, adults and anyone in between! Parents can assist their kids in applying the oils themselves, helping them to feeling a sense of responsibility and choice. There’s fun recipe I have for getting a grumpy little one out of their mood. Directions involve applying the essential oil blend to the soles of their feet, tickling said grump, and repeating as necessary. Works like a charm!

Remember we always want to dilute essential oils with a carrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, or really, any liquid vegetable oil you’ve got. And yes, there’s a world of a difference between fractionated coconut oil and the stuff you’ve got on your kitchen counter. Fractionated coconut oil, for those of you that don’t know, is liquid even in cooler temperatures. It is odourless, and doesn’t stain clothing (woohoo!).
